Book Release and Utah Interfaith Dialogue Trip Update
Book Release Update
After a year’s delay, I’m very excited to announce that 40 Questions About Mormonism is officially slated for the winter 2025–26 catalogue!
I’m stoked to finally see it in print and am deeply grateful to everyone who joined me on this writing journey, especially this wonderful Substack community.
Seriously, thank you! Your feedback and encouragement over the past few years have been invaluable.
In the coming months, I'll be sharing exclusive previews of the book right here on this Substack, so please invite any friends who might be interested to subscribe.
Fun fact: I’ve recently learned that an except from the book is consistently among the Top 10 results when people ask Google why Latter-day Saints don’t drink coffee.
Check it out, if you haven’t read it already.
Utah Interfaith Dialogue Trip Highlights
I spent this past week in Utah with evangelical college students from Alabama to participate in interfaith dialogues all across the state, from Logan to Cedar City.
As always, the trip was nothing short of remarkable. This was my 11th dialogue trip. I can’t believe it!
The week flew by, but here were my highlights:
A wonderful evening with Dr. Dick and Pat Bennett, former chair of Church History at Brigham Young University and a doktor-gott-vater of sorts to. Dr. Bennett gave me my dissertation idea and coached me along the way.
Engaging dialogues at Brigham Young University between our students, other evangelicals from Azusa Pacific University (who were awesome), and Latter-day Saint counterparts.
Warm conversations at the home of my dear friends Stephan (BYU professor) and Kirsten Taeger, joined by Jeff and Joy McCullough of Hello Saints!
Logan Institute dialogues where we sang “It Is Well With My Soul” (a new addition to the LDS hymnal) and shared Horatio Spafford’s heart-wrenching yet hope-inspiring story.
A Salt Lake City excursion for students to meet with Clark Gilbert (a member of the Seventy) and tour Temple Square.
Joining the amazing Skyler Hamilton on his podcast Distinctive Christianity to discuss my most recent work on the 1832 First Vision account.
Recording sessions as a guest on David Butler’s RVVL, discussing both a conference talk and the Apostles’ Creed alongside Stephan, Jeff, and David.
A final dialogue in Cedar City with great Institute instructors, Ryan and Jake, who blessed us with great food to literally break bread with new friends.
Catching up with my good friend Rick Bennett of Gospel Tangents, who interviewed me a few years back.
(Special thanks to Standing Together with Greg and Jill Johnson, who’s faithfulness to this dialogue has provided us with this amazing opportunity for over a decade.)

What struck me most profoundly was witnessing what the Lord is doing through these dialogues. We’re seeing barriers break down without compromising doctrinal distinctives. Students from both evangelical and Latter-day Saint backgrounds are discussing core beliefs central to their loves and identities with remarkable kindness and respect.
I can’t deny that the Lord is up to something amazing through these conversations—making Himself known and drawing students from both traditions closer to Him.
Thank you for your continued interest and support. I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months!
